Lutz Schremmer is one of the founding partners at MeritDirect. As is par in our industry, Lutz’s education had little to do with Marketing, although an Ivy League degree in Architecture comes in handy when it comes to envisioning non-linear creative client service data solutions. He manages several Database Marketing Audience Targeting marketing teams at MeritDirect, including Brady Corp, Taylor Corp, National Pen, Baudville, PayPal, HD Supply, Careertrack and Franklin Covey. Lutz has also been busy playing a significant role in managing MeritDirect’s expansion into Europe.
After decades of struggling to explain his job to his kids, he’s finally appreciated the relatively simple concept that “we help companies understand who their best customers are, and then we help them find more of them” And while the underlying layers are often anything but simple, the solutions invariably lie in the data. As with most puzzles, the challenges are similar and the patterns tend to repeat, even as specific solutions are both iterative and infinite. So we continue to get better and smarter, which keeps it interesting and engaging.
Lutz literally married into the industry in the late 80’s, when he formed a lifelong partnership with then Direct Media Senior VP Denise Schremmer. They split their time between their home in Hilton Head Island SC and New York City, with two adult kids- one a college sophomore at USC and another a recent graduate and recent Atlanta transplant. When not traveling for work or family, Lutz enjoys running the beach, walking a golf course and sitting with a good book.
